High Heat In Circuit of the Americas (CotA) Battle

The World Endurance Championship was at the Circuit of the Americas (CotA) at the weekend for Round 6. Pierre Kaffer was absent from this one, leaving just Oli and teammate Simon Trummer to share the duties in stifling 100 degree heat. The weekend began with promise, Oli posted a quick lap putting him ahead of rivals Rebellion Racing during Practice. The car was working well and looked fast. In qualifying a gear shift problem affected the speed meaning the duo would start from P8 of the LMP1 cars with an average qualifying time of 1’54.577. As the race unfolded the conditions and lack of a third driver started to take its toll, they lost time with full course yellow flags but kept the pressure on the Rebellion car with comparable lap times, however, a wheel nut issue in the final hour of 6 meant, despite the fight, a second place finish in class was the result.
Next up is a trip to Asia to race under the shadow on Mount Fuji at the stunning circuit located outside of Tokyo on the 16th October.
