BRDC announces drivers for the 2011 SuperStars Programme.

Silverstone, Northamptonshire.  The BRDC are pleased to announce Oliver Webb as one of its drivers for the 2011 SuperStars Programme.

Now in its fourth year, today’s announcement underlines the ongoing success of the scheme, which was launched, to support British drivers such as Oliver to  develop their professional motor sport careers in the pursuit of Formula 1.

Tim Harvey, Director, BRDC SuperStars is delighted to confirm the line up for the fourth year. “We always find it hard to make the final decision but after careful consideration we feel we have a very talented bunch of drivers who we look forward to working with this year”

The racing season is not quite underway but the Webb will experience his first group event with the SuperStars on February 15th when they travel to RAF Cranwell

In Lincolnshire, for a day of Fighter Pilot Aptitude Training. RAF Cranwell is the oldest Air Force College in the world and the Royal Air Force’s most prestigious training unit.

The Silverstone -based British Racing Drivers’ Club launched the BRDC SuperStars, scheme in 2008 to further the careers of young drivers.

Through its longstanding support of the McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award, the club has been and is firmly committed to the development and progression of British racing talent.

BRDC SuperStars is a scheme that has been put in place to work with drivers away from the racing environment with a programme of events and workshops throughout the year to enhance their communication and marketing skills. In addition the club and their patrons are on hand to coach and advise the drivers as their seasons unfold.

Drivers on the scheme gain invaluable experience with guidance on physical and mental training, media training, marketing, sponsorship advice, on-going team building exercises and tailor made progression workshops.
